During this Coronavirus outbreak, Walker’s Drug Store has taken a number of steps to safeguard the safety and comfort of both our staff and employees. Here are some of the things we’ve done so far and will continue doing throughout the month of May.
Better days are ahead, of this we’re sure. Until then, it’s important for us to each do our part in slowing the spread and flattening the curve of the deadly Coronavirus. At Walker’s Drug Store, we are heavily invested in the health and safety of our internal community (staff) and our external community (patients and customers). We have been serving the Ballantyne and surrounding communities for over 100 years and we will continue to serve our community for as long as possible. Here are some of the things we’ve been doing over the past few months to aid the fight against COVID-19
Looking Out for Our Customers
Walker’s Drug Store has remained open and we have prioritized the health and safety of our customers in a number of ways. Some of the things we are doing include:
- Making hand sanitizer for our customers
- Providing hand sanitizer upon entry and at the cash registers
- 6ft physical distancing markers on the floors at our store
- Plexiglass screens at our cash registers to minimize physical interaction
- A free home delivery service
- Curbside pickup
Our customers are important to us, and we feel it’s important to say this not just in our actions but in our words too. We have sent out personal communications to our customers through PrescribeWellness to say ‘thank you’ for your time, thank you for choosing our drug store and that we’re all in this together working toward a solution for our new normal.
Protecting and Appreciating Our Staff
Without our dedicated, caring and hard-working staff, Walker’s Drug Store would not be where it is today. We also understand the sacrifices our staff are making to cater to our customers’ needs and we are extremely thankful for this. We had been sending out positive text blasts to our staff to thank them for all they are doing. We have also given them a “COVID bonus” to further show our appreciation.
As the push towards a ‘reopening’ of our state gains traction, we’d like to encourage you all to abide by the recommendations of the CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO). Practice good hygiene by frequently washing/sanitizing your hands, regularly disinfecting surfaces, avoiding touching your face and practicing social distancing when out in public. We know that things are hard and stressful right now, but we’ll make it through this safely if we each play our part.
Even though these may not be top of your mind at this time, the risk is still present so feel free to ask us about getting your essential vaccines, such as the flu or pneumonia shot. While these vaccines don’t protect against COVID-19, they do protect against illnesses that can increase your susceptibility to it. Be sure to call us at (704) 321-0027 for further information and speak to one of our representatives at the Drug Store that cares.
